Vizi: Tell us about yourself as a photographer.
Heather: I am not a professional photographer. I enjoy taking pictures while I travel. I take pictures to document memories and special moments.
Vizi: Where and when did you take that winning photo? Is there a story behind the picture?
Heather: My goodness! I am very surprised that I won this photo contest. It was such a great memory of photo taking. In August 2022, I was visiting my 92-year-old mother in Idaho. One morning I gazed beyond the flowing Snake river across the road from the house to what my family affectionately called “Aunt’s Mountain” - the “V” section of a little mountain range beyond. There is a City of Rocks in the area and I had never been there, so I spontaneously suggested that my Mom and I go for a drive around the area. It was a trip down memory lane for us as I had not been to Elba, where my aunt had lived, for 35 years. We visited the old, weed-covered pioneer cemetery where my aunt was buried. We drove around the City of Rocks where I took pictures of beautiful and magnificent rock formations, of the unpaved roads, of the sunny sky with its fluffy clouds, and of some little lizards. On our way back home, my mother spotted an old wagon sitting on the side of the road. She suggested that I take pictures of that as well. So I stopped the car, got out and took several images of the wagon… and the rest is history. I had simply taken an opportunity and created new memories with my mother, resulting in a win of $365 just because I listened to my Mom!
Vizi: What equipment did you use for that shoot?
Heather: iPhone 12 ProMax
Vizi: What are your thoughts about Vizi365 as a business?
Heather: It is such a fun business that encourages community building and story sharing. It is such a unique business and I can see a great future as the Vizi community grows. Anyone can join the business and have fun while making money.
Vizi:What advice would you give someone who would like to become a photographer or a Vizi Affiliate?
Heather: Step out of your comfort zone while taking pictures. Take several pictures at different angles and pick out the best one. Aim for high quality pictures that would be “perfect conversation pieces” that could lead to enjoyable storytelling.
